The Benefits Of A Bespoke Website Design

August 5, 2020 / Justin Widdop

When looking for a new website we understand that they are so many different options out there. What do you choose? What is the best solution for your business?

More than ever before it’s important that you are able to research the different options available so you can make the right choice for your business and your future goals. This is by no means an exhaustive list of the options but here are some of the options you will have when it comes to a new website:

  • Self-build website
  • Pay monthly website
  • Website built by yourself or others on a chosen template
  • Bespoke website built for you

Here at Choose Purple we are advocates of bespoke website designs. That’s not to say there is never a time or place where you should not look at other options but for the reasons below this is why bespoke websites are normally the right choice for most businesses.

Your website will be unique to your business

Your business is unique, it has its own DNA, vision, culture, ethos and values that you have created over time. Your business is not the same as your competitors and the same should be said about your website.

The challenge with templated and cheap pay monthly options is that the website is not designed and created unique for you. You have to fit in their box and their way of thinking whilst we believe in designing websites that are uniquely and specifically created for your business based on your requirements and goals.

When we design a new website, we want to know:

  • What makes you different?
  • What style suits your business?
  • What is your business culture and DNA?
  • What are your business goals?

We want to get under the skin of your business and discover what makes you tick. Our job is not just to get you online and do that as quickly as possible (there are lots of website designers that will do this) we want to get your business results from your website. We want to create an online presence for you that shows the quality of who you are and what you offer.

You are not the same as any other business and the same should be said of your website.

Plenty of flexible functionality

It’s not just the look of the website that needs to be unique but the whole feel and functionality of your website needs to be unique to your business. The following factors need to come into play:

  • What level of animation do we include that would suit your business?
  • Is there any external software we need to look to integrate to help your business?
  • Do you require any interactive functionally such as a quote system?
  • What special features will help you win more business?
  • What call to actions are needed?
  • What is the best way to convert visitors into paying customers?

There are so many functionality options available when it comes to a website design and they need to be investigated to see if they are the right fit for your business and brand. The chances are that templated and cheap website options will not consider any of this and you will simply have what you are given.

Your website can grow as you grow

We all want our businesses to grow to one degree or another. It maybe you are looking to build a monster of a business or something that simply gives you and your family an improved lifestyle. Either way, you want it to grow to meet your unique needs.

With this in mind it’s important that you don’t have to keep scrapping your website every year based on the changing requirements of your business. It’s important that your website has flexibility and scalability to grow with you and this should be considered at the start of the website process. You don’t want to get into the process and then discover your future needs will not be met.

When building a bespoke website, flexibility and growth are at the core of the process. In the future you may want to add more functionality, additional integrations, extra features and of course, more content; it’s vital you ensure your website can cater for this.

A templated or cheap website supplier will have restrictions that means you will only ever be able to go so far. This sort of website can be a quick fix but often they won’t enable you to grow online in the way that your future will require.

A super professional look is on the cards

Your website is your online shop window. When a potential client wants to find out more information about you, what do they do? They Google you! We all do it and your potential clients are no different.

The question is, when they find you, what are they finding?

Are they finding a super professional website that showcases you as a quality business or are they finding a cheap looking website that can potentially be doing more harm than good? We all know that looks aren’t everything but when it comes to your website they certainly do help.

A bespoke website is designed for you. It can look how you want it to look. If you want it to be super slick and professional, then that is what you can have. There are few limitations! Again, when working with a templated website you will be limited by what it can do and what it looks like. It will never be uniquely you or carry your full ethos and values because you are having to operate within the restrictions given.

You get what you pay for

More often than not when you have a bespoke website designed you will pay for that website by way of a deposit and then a final payment as the website goes live. With templated websites you will either pay much less or on a monthly basis. This can often be attractive because it requires less financial investment in one chunk.

However, it’s important to understand a few factors:

  • Most pay monthly options will mean you are paying that amount forever. This can actually mean that in the end you will be paying much more for a less quality website.
  • With some cheap website suppliers, you will never actually own the website. It is built on their platform and all you are doing is renting that website space. You can never move it or transfer it anywhere else. You are tied in forever. This is something that many people don’t realise when agreeing to such a website.
  • There is always a reason that a website is cheap. Like anything in life, you pay for what you get. If it’s cheap then it’s cheap for a reason.

When having a bespoke website designed you know what you are getting and at what it costs. You will more than likely pay more at the start and pay this in one chunk but in the long term this is a wiser and more constructive business decision.

We will end this article as we started by saying we understand that there is a time and place where a cheaper website or a pay monthly option is a good way to go. It can sometimes be the right decision for your business. However, if you are an ambitious business that wants to grow and own a website that reflects the quality, ambition and professionality of your business than more than likely a bespoke website is the right path for you.
